Faculty

Dr. Sujeet Yadav received his Ph.D. in December 2020 from the department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. Prior to this, he completed his M. Tech from the department of Metallurgical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi in May 2014. During his Ph.D., Sujeet focused on the computational modeling of oxy-pulverized coal combustion, which aimed to mitigate greenhouse gases emission from power sector with enhanced efficiency of power generation. He also implemented oxy-fuel combustion concept to real scale power plant coupled with CCS techniques. Following his Ph.D., he joined Kyushu University in Japan as a post-doctoral researcher, where he worked with Prof. Hiroaki Watanabe. During his stay at Kyushu University, he worked on multi-dimensional flamelet modeling of coal-ammonia co-firing on semi-industrial scale complex burner. His post-doctoral work involved improvement to detailed chemistry based FPV approach to consider multiple fuel and oxidizer streams coupled with high-fidelity large eddy simulation (LES). He also worked on LES modeling of non-adiabatic reforming of hot coke oven gas (HCOG) using flamelet based approach. Since October 2024, he has been part of the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as an assistant professor.

Research Interests:

  • Improving multi-dimensional flamelet approach focusing on accurate descriptions of ignition, extinction, and pollutant formation.
  • Co-combustion of ammonia with reactive hydrocarbon fuels to directly reduce greenhouse gases emission.
  • Oxy-fuel Combustion.
  • Mitigation of greenhouse gases through carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) techniques.
  • Clean coal conversion through modeling of coal gasification using advanced FPV-LES approach.
