Dr. Supravat Karak received the M. Sc. and PhD degree in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India, in 2007 and 2011, respectively. At Indian Institute of Technology, his research involved on organic electronics, specifically on organic photovoltaic devices. He then joined as an EFRC postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Paul M. Lahti at University of Massachusetts, USA working on the fabrication and characterization of organic single crystal, nano-structure and thin film based photovoltaic devices. He has also worked with Prof.KunioAwaga at Nagoya University as a JSPS fellow on related areas. Since October 2016 he has been part of Centre for Energy Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as an Assistant Professor.
Research Interests : Dr. Karak focussed on the fundamental opto-electronic properties of organic and hybrid semiconductors for photovoltaic applications. Fabrication of organic and hybrid molecule based photovoltaic devices and understanding the fundamental photo-physics of such new class of material systems to improve their performance both in terms of efficiency and lifetime, are his primary research interests. His long term goal will be to investigate the intrinsic photocurrent and photovoltage physics and determining the performance limitation of the material in question. Organic/polymer and perovskite based electronic devices like photovoltaic (OPVs), light emitting diode (OLED), photodetectors, memory devices etc
Fundamental optoelectronic and charge carrier transport properties of organic and hybrid semiconductors for energy harvesting
Self-assembled one dimensional nanostructures and single crystals and their possible applications in next generation electronic devices
Semiconductor/Ionic liquid interfaces for AC solar cell and ultrafast THz photodetectors
